The world is preparing to exit the quarantine. The impact of lockdown on the world economy has been more severe than previous crises. Today, there is no economic sphere that has not suffered from the consequences of the pandemic. International financial institutions and think tanks have various forecasts of falling economic indicators, increasing government regulatory restrictions and the formation of new rules for doing business.
NEW ECONOMIC REALITY: PILLARS OF UKRAINE`S DEVELOPMENT
The Green Deal is the large-scale European program that aims to turn Europe into the world's first carbon-neutral continent, a goal now stated by China as well. A consensus is building that the world's climate cannot take another century of dirty, fossil-fuel-based energy. Renewable electricity such as solar and wind could provide up to 50% percent of the planet's needs by 2050 with the right steps today. Ukraine, which generates just 8% of its energy from renewable sources, must change rapidly.

DOES THE STATE RUN ENERGY COMPANIES SMARTLY?
Five of Ukraine's 15 largest state-owned firms are in the energy sector -- Naftogaz, Ukrenergo, Energoatom, Gas Transit System Operator of Ukraine and Ukrhydroenergo. Is this necessary? Is the state a good steward of these companies.
